Eating warm food is essential, especially during winter, and so you can eat types of food who can't be comsumed raw (meat, pasta, rice...). Because if you have a power outage, the fridge will stop working, so you will have to cook and eat the things that doesn't last long out of the fridge.

A power outage can happen at any time, especially during or after storms, like in Memphis in may 2017, where nearly 150,000 homes had a power outage, because of trees falling on electric lines...

This guide can be useful too if you have gas stoves but you have somehow a problem with them.

This method can be used too to boil water if you want to make some coffee or some tea!

This method must be used with caution and when you haven't safer ways to cook your food.

(?) — You need rubbing alcohol, a big food can and a small one.

The big food can is about 28 ounces / 0.8 kilogram / 1.7 pounds.

The small can is a small tuna can, about 5.6 ounces / 0.16 kilogram / 0.35 pound.

Rubbing alcohol can be found in supermarkets at a very low price ($1.5)!

It can be used as fire starter (fireplace, barbecue...) and to clean up all types if things (mix 10% of alcohol with water)

Gather ingredients — You need rubbing alcohol, a big food can and a small one.

Empty and clean up food cans — Empty the two food cans if they still contain the food, then clean them up.

Cut the big food can in half with a knife.

Pour alcohol in the small can — Put a small amount of alcohol in the small food can (fill like 10-20% of the can).

💦 Be careful to not spill alcohol outside the can. Clean with a towel if needed.

Place the small can on a clean, stable, straight and fire proof surface. Otherwise you can use something to protect your table, like a big floor tile.

Then with a lighter or a match, light up the alcohol in the can.

Be sure it's safe and stable around the can. If you're using a table be sure the table can't shake too much, making the burning alcohol spill out the can...

If you can, use a long nise lighter so you dont burn your fingers! Otherwise pull out your hand quickly :p

👁 Keep an eye open during cooking. Dont leave the thing unattended.

If all of the alcohol has burn out before the food is done, just add some more alcohol. Be sure the fire is entirely out before pouring in more alcohol!

When food is cooked, put out the fire if there is still some alcohol burning inside.

For that, just block oxigen access to the fire and the alcohol will stop burning on its own:
● Put one of the half cans on top of it to put out the little can (♨️ be careful the cans should be very hot. Use gloves or pliers)
● Even simpler: Spread the cans and directly put your pot or pan on top of the burning can to make it suffocate.

If there is leftover alcohol in the can and want to use it later, you can leave it in the can and cover it (so it doesn't evaporates) with one of the half cans (see picture below).

If you don't need to reuse it soon, you can wait for the alcohol to be cold and put it back in the bottle.

♨️ Don't touch the hot cans!

Rubbing alcohol is very flammable.
● Dont leave alcohol puddles around the thing when using it, they may catch fire.
● Keep the bottle away from fire
● Keep bottle away from children
