Today we will learn how to draw / make simple straight lines using GIMP. It's really simple to do, although it's not easy to figure out for GIMP beginners, that's why I decided to make this tutorial

This technique works with tools like pen, pencil, airbrush, eraser and even Smudge!

Prepare your tool — You can use pretty much anything you want to draw a line in gimp.

Here I will make a simple straight line using the simple regular paintbrush.

1 ► Choose Paintbrush
2 ► Choose a brush
3 ► Choose size

Click somewhere in the picture — Click somewhere in your picture. This will be the first point of the line.

Hold Shift and move mouse — Hold
shift
while moving your mouse to the second point of the line.

Click to draw line — Click to draw the line.

That's it! Now you can easily draw lines in gimp.

^Tip
↓1 To draw multiple connected lines, just hold
shift
and it will draw a line each time you click. Each line will simply use the previous line endpoint to start a new line.

↓2 You can make straight lines with any brush (chalk, charcoal, sparks...), color, brush size, dynamics...

You can even make a straight line with the Smudge tool! Just hold
shift
between two smudge points and it will smudge along the straight line!
